Michael Simkins has been a teacher, principal, and director of the Challenge 2000 Multimedia Project, which was cited by the U.S. Department of Education as one of two exemplary educational technology programs in the nation. He served as the creative director and then executive director of TICAL from 2001 to 2008. He continues to work with TICAL as consulting director. He worked with the FCC to help write the education component of the National Broadband Plan. Other consulting clients include SRI International, the Association of California School Administrators, Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, and Silicon Valley Education Foundation. Michael earned his B.A. in Political Science at the University of California Santa Barbara and his M.Ed. and Ed.D. at UCLA. Michael directed the Leadership 3.0 Symposium from its beginning in 2008 through 2014. He is Leading Edge Certified as a professional developer in both Blended and Online Learning and Administrator and currently on the faculty of the Krause Center for Innovation at Foothill College.
