Kris Munro is completing her tenth year as Superintendent for Santa Cruz City Schools. With 32 years in education, Kris began her career as a high school English and English Language Development teacher and has served in various leadership positions including Assistant Superintendent for Educational Services, Principal, and Assistant Principal.

Kris brings a deep commitment to equity and the success of every child by providing students a world-class education. During her tenure as Superintendent, Santa Cruz City Schools has worked to ensure every student has every option upon graduation, increasing A-G completion rates for all student groups. In addition, the district has secured sustainable local funding for both educational programs and infrastructure by passing four parcel taxes and four bond measures providing essential resources for public education in Santa Cruz. Currently, Santa Cruz City Schools is focused on supporting student academic and social emotional needs post pandemic and building workforce housing to help recruit and retain the best possible team to serve our community.
