This year Governor Brown proposed the least complicated education budget in recent memory. The January budget continues providing resources to support the implementation of the Local Control Funding Formula and spend one time resources to pay down past state mandated claims. The governor’s single biggest proposal is to consolidate preschool programs into a block grant. This issue will be on the forefront of the education budget as a new Assembly Speaker takes the helm.
